The Sinking Shop Box. This was a one-off box that I created to thematically fit some marquetry I had done. The box is an N-ary puzzle and takes somewhere around 40 moves to open. I created a poem to narrate the solution: The Ballad of the Founderin
I wanted to see if I could emulate v-carving on my Shaper Origin. By breaking my logo down into a LOT of passes, each with a different depth and offset, I achieved some pretty nice results. This might have been much easier with Bench Pilot. #shapero
Drilling a bunch of holes in the completed compass rose to allow for all the brass infill "stars". One is special.
The Calico box. I wanted to experiment with using semi-random arrangements of wood species in order to hide sliding keys. Made from Cherry, Walnut, Maple, Ash, and Poplar. 19 moves to open.
The Puzzle Pillar. Besides being a great piece to display puzzle boxes, it also is a puzzle unto itself!

The Detour Box embodies the quiet realization that progress is not always linear. What first appears direct and purposeful begins to bend—almost imperceptibly—until we find ourselves returning to familiar ground from a different vantage. Its layered mechanisms mirror that experience: a path that feels inevitable yet reveals itself to have been leading somewhere entirely unexpected.

As its title suggests, Detour is less about being lost than about discovery through redirection—the way uncertainty becomes part of the design, and arrival is found in reflection as much as motion.
